Backstory

After her twin sister and brother-in-law passed away, Satori adopted her niece, Mei. Wanting to be strong for her family, she searched for healthy techniques to process her grief, eventually finding meditation.

What started as a coping mechanism, became a significant part of her life. Through meditation, mindfulness, and spiritual study, Satori found inner peace, becoming a person of good cheer.

It was unavoidable that as Mei grew up in Satori’s care, she would take to meditation as well. Due to her age and development, Mei’s spirituality is not as developed as her mother’s. Is this gap what drives Mei to be more serious?

As she gets older, Mei sometimes wishes Satori would act a little more responsibly, especially when she makes spontaneous travel decisions with little regard for their finances. Satori, meanwhile, realizes how breif life is and is unwilling to spend precious time worrying.

As time allows, they travel to quiet mountain towns, tucked away shrines and take spiritual pilgrimages to places in India. Though their bond is strong, it’s in the moments where Satori breaks through her daughter’s guarded exterior, igniting shared fits of giggling that their connection is the deepest
